Ambika runs mentorship sessions and trainings throughout Australia and the globe via Skype.
Ambika has been teaching yoga for over 20 years, and has attended numerous Teacher Trainings, workshops and courses to expand her knowledge of yoga. These trainings have taught her asana approaches and styles such as Vinyasa, Power Flow, Classical Hatha and Restorative, and she has also studied Meditation, Pranayama and The Energetic Body extensively. To Ambika, the ideal yoga class would consist of all of the above. She believes that modern classes shouldn't be a watered down version of yoga. We can still include breathing techniques, philosophy and other aspects of yoga, and it can still be accessible to everyone, regardless of whether our students consider themselves to be spiritual. There are teaching skills which aren't being taught in many 200hr courses, this is where this mentorship is a valuable investment. In these sessions she can go through the following:

Today more than ever in a yoga class, the teacher seems to be engrossed in their own physical practice, simply cueing the next pose to their playlist which they spent longer preparing than their actual sequence, instead of watching their students and actually teaching them how to get better at yoga. Yoga teachers aren't properly breaking down postures, or teaching how to work toward an inversion or an arm balance, they are saying things like 'if it's in your practice, come in to your headstand'. That kind of teaching is lazy. Actually it's not even teaching. How do students know if it's in their practice if they are never taught it? I'm on a mission to change this culture.
